Fees
I provide sessions at a rate of $150 per hour. My standard sessions are a full 60 minutes. If we decide to have longer sessions (especially for couples, families, or configurations of multiple people), my rate will scale accordingly.
Unfortunately, I do not take insurance anymore due to extreme difficulties with various insurers. Also, use of insurance means that insurance decides if the care is “medically necessary”, can request all of your medical records, and can issue clawbacks (a return of money for sessions provided) to the therapist months later. I believe in helping people clarify and live their values, and insurance often does not cover that kind of work.
I can provide a Superbill for reimbursement, but please note that this necesitates a qualifying diagnosis. I cannot guarantee if or how much you will get back. You can check with your insurance first to see what your plan might reimburse. The CPT code they may need is 90837 for 53+ minutes of psychotherapy.
If my rate presents a financial barrier, please inquire about availability for a sliding scale rate.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
